| Mar 10, 2016 12:30 PM EST

The Google Nexus 6P is one of the most popular smartphones in the United States.

When it comes to a specs point of view, there exists a very tough competition between Google Nexus 6P and the iPhone 6S.

The two devices are equally phenomenal, but at the end of the day, one of them has to take the other down in various aspects. To begin with, the Google Nexus 6P is an iconic device, as many people think of the handset when it comes to the best Android smartphone in the market.

Generally, the "P" stands for Premium, and the Smartphone itself represents the first all-metal built Google handset, which was manufactured by Huawei. According to Know Your Mobile, the Nexus 6P has the latest Android marshmallow software and is a powerful feature-packed device than its predecessors.

On the other hand, Apple is keen to give the Nexus some stiff competition with the exemplary iPhone 6S. This device is a unique piece of hardware and presents a high-quality smartphone concept with one of the slickest exterior designs and impressive hardware-software integration.

In spite of their superiority, it is still hard to ascertain which smartphone presents us with the better option without any subjectivity. Here is a walk-through of a spec-for-spec comparison:

Google Nexus 6P specs
The device comes with dimensions of 159.3 x 77.8 x 7.3 mm and a 5.7 inches WQHD (2560 x 1440) AMOLED display at 518 ppi. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor clocked at 2.0 GHz Octa-core 64-bit which is backed by 3GB LPDDR4 of RAM.

When it comes to storage, the Nexus comes in three variants - 32GB, 64 GB, and 128GB. For photos and video shooting purposes, it sports an 8MP front camera with 720p HD video recording capabilities as well as a rear 12.3 MP camera with 4K video capabilities plus an f/2.0 aperture.

The device's battery capacity is rated at 3450 mAh which gives the phone up to 7-9 hours of battery life combined usage.

iPhone 6S specs
The iPhone comes in a much smaller size with dimensions being 138.3 x 67.1 x 7.1mm. This size supports a 4.7-inch (1334x750) display at 326ppi. The device is then powered by the legendary A9 chip with 64-bit architecture plus an M9 motion coprocessor assisted by a 2 GB LPDDR4 of RAM and 16, 64, or 128GB external storage options.

As for the camera, the device has a 5 MP front one with a 720p HD video recording capability. At the back, it houses a 12 MP camera with an ƒ/2.2 aperture capable of recording 4K video. The battery capacity is much smaller at 1715 mAh although it gives up to 12 hours battery life mixed usage.

The comparison draws a perfect picture of which areas the two devices outdo each other. The Nexus 6P has taken the crown when it comes to storage, RAM and display. While the iPhone 6s features 16, 64 or 128 GB variants, the Nexus comes with bigger storages. When it comes to RAM, the Nexus outdo the Apple's iPhone 6S by a whopping 1GB capacity.

Not to forget, the Nexus comes with a 5.7 inches; WQHD (2560 x 1440) AMOLED display at 518 ppi, which is much superior compared to the iPhone's 4.7-inch (1334x750) display at 326ppi. With the display feature, therefore, the Nexus gets it.

However, based  on the arguments on various tests done on both phones in the past, according to Quora, iPhone's A9 chip has better performance than the Snapdragon 810 incorporated in the Nexus. This is because Apple has designed the A9 to work efficiently together with the iOS, which is not the case for the Snapdragon.

From the review, the Google Nexus 6P has some offerings to boast about, and as for the iPhone 6S, the hardware-software harmony has yet to be outdone.
