Xu Jinglei's "Somewhere Only We Know" raked in $37.81 million in its first six days of screening.

Fans of actress Xu Jinglei are in for a treat this Valentine's Day as her latest romantic drama flick "Somewhere Only We Know" is released across China during the day of love.

In June 2014, the 40-year-old Chinese actress and filmmaker, who also directed the film, announced that she was casting for the romantic film through her personal profile in China's Twitter-like microblogging platform Sina Weibo.

After finally finding the perfect ensemble for the flick, Xu presented the cast early in January this year, which includes herself, Wu Yifan, Wang Likun, Zhang Chao and Re Yizha.

She also announced that the romantic film "Somewhere Only We Know" would be released on Feb. 14, just in time for the celebration of love during the day of hearts.

The story begins when Jin Tian, the film's female lead, experienced the hardest time of her life after her boyfriend backed out of their marriage while she is grieving the loss of her grandmother.

She then proceeds to try to mend her broken heart by traveling to Europe, where she meets the male lead, Ze Yang, who joins her as she figures out her late grandmother's love story.

Xu, who graduated from the Beijing Film Academy in 1997, has expanded her venture in the entertainment industry through entering into directing and filmmaking in 2003.

In the same year, she was crowned as the Best Actress twice, first at the 26th annual Hundred Flowers Film Awards for her role in the film "Spring Subway," and then at the 9th annual Huabiao Film Awards where she was recognized for her performances in the films "Far From Home" and "I Love You."

She was also dubbed as the Best New Female Director at the 23rd annual Chinese Golden Rooster Awards after she helmed "My Father and I."
