First person shooter game "Battlefield 5" will release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

While EA and DICE are still mum about "Battlefield 5" specifics, there are a few details in the rumor mills. The two companies released "Battlefield 4" in 2013, which put console players and PC owners on big battlefields with an array of weaponry, compelling equipment, powerful vehicles, and a destructive environment.

"Battlefield 4" had some shortcomings but EA and DICE worked to improve the game, making it a fan favorite around the world. Recently, the game developers released "Battlefield Hardline," which features similar elements of "Battlefield 4" except for cops and robbers in place of different militaries. The game left something to be desired in terms of a new Battlefield game.

Although there is scanty information about the next installment, it seems like fans should see "Battlefield 5" released this year. With E3 2016 looming, a brand new Battlefield title is in development. Besides EA confirming the existence of another game multiple times, December 2015 saw DICE's development director informing the public that he was shifting from "Star Wars: Battlefront" onto the next Battlefield game.

A few weeks ago, a listing for "Battlefield 5" appeared at German retailer World of Games, indicating that retailers are clamoring for the inevitable announcement. Furthermore, the developer company said that it would not release new content for "Battlefield 4" CTE, an indication that the team is shifting focus to the new game.

DICE LA producer David Sirland said via Twitter that all content on the CTE would be left along, at least for now. However, there is no planned shutdown.

DICE is yet to give specifics on the release date of the upcoming installment but the game may reportedly arrive in the third or fourth quarter of 2016. Unless the developer company decided to delay the game, fans should lay hands on "Battlefield 5" after E3 in time for the holidays. According to the listing at the World of Games, "Battlefield 5" will come out sometime in October.

There is no footage for the game, but it is evident that the game will not be based on cops and robbers like "Battlefield Hardline." In 2014, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen announced that the upcoming game would return to Battlefield's military roots, according to Gamespot. This was great news for fans that did not like the changes associated with "Hardline."

Stay tuned for more news as soon as they trickle in. Here is a sneak peek for further information.
