LG Stylus 2 will now take against Samsung Galaxy Note 5 in phablet category.

The ongoing rivalry between South Korean tech manufacturers LG and Samsung is getting more intense. With LG recently launching its Stylus 2 phablet during the Mobile World Congress, Samsung's Galaxy Note 5 has now an affordable alternative in the consumer market.

LG Stylus 2 will now take against Samsung Galaxy Note 5 in phablet category. Here is a brief comparison of both devices in terms of specs, features, design, price and other aspects.

The LG Stylus 2 is the successor of LG G4 stylus sporting 5.7-inch HD IPS 1280x720p display screen. Its stylus has a nano-coated tip, which is said to be more accurate that LG G4 Stylus' rubber tipped stylus. Samsung Galaxy Note 5, on the other hand, sports 5.7-inch Super AMOLED capacitive screen protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 4, with a resolution of 1440x2560p at 518ppi.

Galaxy Note 5 runs on Quad-core Cortex-A53 clocked at 1.5 GHz and Quad-core Cortex-A57 clocked at 2.1 GHz, while Stylus 2 runs on a 1.2GHz quad-core processor. Since Stylus 2 belongs to mid-range tier, it is equipped with smaller random access memory of 1.5GB compared to Galaxy Note 5's 4GB of RAM. Since Galaxy Note 5 has higher RAM, it only means that it will give users more smooth experience in running and switching apps.

In terms of camera specs, LG Stylus 2 is equipped with 13MP rear camera and 8MP front camera, which is better for taking selfies compared to Galaxy Note 5's 5MP front snapper; however, the latter won when it comes to its rear camera as it is equipped with 16 megapixels.

Both smartphones sports 3,000 mAh removable battery; however, Samsung Galaxy Note 5 offers fast charging feature to its users - both on wired and wireless. When it comes to storage, Stylus 2 only offer 16GB built-in storage that can be expanded via microSD slot, while Samsung Galaxy Note 5 has 3 storage variations - 32GB, 64GB and 128GB - but lacking microSD slot.

Stylus 2 comes in Titan, White and Brown, while Galaxy Note 5 is available in colors Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, Silver Titan and White Pearl. The LG Stylus 2's expected price is around $377.78 while Galaxy Note 5 base model has an estimated price of $700. Stylus 2 sports Android Marshmallow out of the box, while Android 6.0 OS for Samsung Note 5 is currently rolling out.

Budget wise, it will be best if users will choose Stylus 2 over Galaxy Note 5, as the former offers premium large phone with decent specs at an affordable price.
