In New Mexico, a female van owner was shocked to discover several packs of Marijuana secretly hidden in the vehicle's door. Police who were called to the scene believed that the Marijuana was probably hidden by the former owner of the van more than a decade ago. The pot weighs at least 13.5 pounds but the age of the stash has rendered it useless.

The current owner of the van, Melodie Peil said she bought the Chevy 1990 model in the early part of 2000 at their local dealership. The previous owner is a man who she believes came from Germany.

According to Peil, the stash of pot was discovered when she asked a friend to help with the door's lock. When the friend removed the door's panel, the marijuana was discovered.  Police detective Lieutenant Roger Schoolcraft described that the Marijuana was packaged in the same fashion that traffickers of drugs normally do. It was wrapped tightly with foils and saran wraps, KRQE News 13 reported.

The van was not only used in trips around town but was also driven across the border several times.  Amazingly, it passed every border control checkpoint that it encountered.  Authorities explained that the reason why the van was able to withstand the border checks is because the pot was so well hidden and the Marijuana was already too old to be of use anyway. Border police would like to have the van x-rayed to make sure that it does not have any more pot stashed inside, Global News reported.

Police estimate that if the Marijuana was still fresh the street value could reach as high as $3,375 USD; however, the pot that was found in the van is virtually worthless due to the its age.

Peil was relieved that they found the hidden pot first. She said, "I was glad that we found it and not Border Patrol."
