“Suits” star Gina Torres revealed that her character is supposed to be played by a white male actor. She shared that the creators initially thought that Harvey Specter’s (Gabriel Macht) boss should also be a strong male character.
In an interview with Hollywood Today, Torres revealed that she was originally trying out for a different USA series. She also mentioned that the Suits creator first envisioned the head of the firm to be white and male.
"I think somewhere along the way, they were putting the character together and they thought maybe it should be a woman, maybe it should be a white woman. They were figuring out how to round off the cast," she recalled.
Although she did not get the part she was originally auditioning for, Torres said that she is more than happy to get cast in Suits instead. Playing such a strong character as Jessica Pearson is definitely a delight. The actress added that she gets to learn a little about herself each day as she plays Harvey's boss and colleague.
In other news, "Suits" season 6 is set to premiere later this year, with the cast and crew expected to return to filming by April. In an interview with Yahoo TV, "Suits" creator Aaron Korsh revealed that episode 1 will immediately pick up right where season 5 ended.
Although he admitted that he may eventually change his mind, Korsh teased that the first episode will focus on Mike's (Patrick J. Adam) first night in jail combined with the partners' first night after discovering that everyone left Pearson Specter Litt.
Korsh revealed that the five people left Jessica, Harvey, Louis (Rick Hoffman), Donna (Sarah Rafferty) and Rachel (Meghan Markle) will have to find a way to make the firm great once again. In spite of the drama surrounding "Suits" season 6, Korsh shared that fans can definitely expect more humor in the coming episodes.
"We have some funny stuff coming in Season 6. We get back to some of those fun and funnier stories."
