Oscar-winning and Broadway legend "Cabaret" star Joel Grey reveals his true sexuality in an interview with the People magazine. He told the publication, "I am a gay man."

Though the 82 year-old Oscar winner says he does not want to be labeled, Grey reveals that, "I came to realize that, along with the fact that I am attracted to girls, I happen to like boys, also, while growing up in Ohio."

As a child, he vividly recalls an instant when he overheard grow-ups talking in a room adjacent to his, including his mother. He remembers that they were talking about "fairies" and men who were locked in jail for several matters, including their manner of expression of who they really are.

The 82 year-old shares that his personal take on his real sexuality wasn't kept from his family and friends, but "most of them had a hard time accepting the part of me that I was just starting to discover," he said.

Grey married Jo Wilder and declared that they both had a wonderful 24 year-old relationship together. He is the father of Jennifer Grey, the "Dirty Dancing" star and James, a renowned chef.

This "gay man" and Wilder divorced sometime in 1982.

Jennifer Grey, her daughter, told People that she's happy about her father's revelation. "I am extremely happy that my father has reached the point in his life where he's already felt comfortable in declaring his real self to the public," the "Dirty Dancing" star said.

In 1966, Joel Grey was awarded the Tony Award for the musical "Cabaret".
