CFO of EA DICE, Blake Jorgensen, announced in 2015 that "Battlefield 5" would come out this year. Furthermore, DICE development director, Dan Vaderlind revealed that the development team would turn to "Battlefield 5" right after the launch of "Star Wars: Battlefront."
However, lack of announcements has resulted into speculations that the game might be delayed. Many fans of the franchise have been anticipating the next installment in "Battlefield." When Randy Evans, DICE's senior video and media director, recently hyped via Twitter, many assumed that he was talking about "Battlefield 5."
In the tweet, Evans talked of a big trailer dropping. Fans' responses indicated that they were expecting to see "Battlefield 5," but it turned out to be a trailer for "Mirror's Edge: Catalyst." Later on, they expressed their disillusionment, but the game developer remained tight-lipped about "Battlefield 5."
April will mark the first year anniversary for "Battlefield 4," and DICE will be releasing the last DLC for the game, which could be a sign that another installment is set to arrive. Although the company has not yet announced the official release date for the next game, according to VG247, DICE has the next shooter scheduled for this year's holiday season.
Fans of the popular franchise should not worry since EA DICE themselves confirmed that they are eager to release "Battlefield 5" in 2016, and according to IGN, the upcoming game will return to its military-themed roots. There are also rumors that "Battlefield 5" will be set in World War I.
With regard to the upcoming "Mirror's Edge: Catalyst," DICE has unveiled the trailer and announced a closed-beta for the game. The released trailer focuses on a character named Faith. The closed-beta for "Mirror's Edge: Catalyst" will come out before the actual game releases on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
"Mirror's Edge: Catalyst" release date was moved back from Feb. 23 to May 24. Watch the trailer below to have a glimpse of what the game is all about.
