(L-R) Actors Michael Emerson, Amy Acker and Sarah Shahi pose in the press room for the 'Person of Interest' panel during Comic-Con Day 4 at The Jacob K. Javits Convention Center on October 11, 2015 in New York City.

"Person of Interest" season 5 is slated to premiere on May 3, although the fifth installment of the American sci-fi crime drama will be the series' final run.

Executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Greg Plageman, in an exclusive report by IGN, said, "We're extremely excited to be able share this final season with the fans. We're eternally grateful to our amazing cast and crew, as well as our partners at the studio and network."

The executive producers thanked fans as the conclusion of the show unfolds in season 5. Besides saying that fans of "Person of Interest" are the best in the world, Nolan and Plageman said that the subversive little paranoia-inducing cyberpunk-thriller is for the fans and it would not have been possible without their support.

Nolan and Plageman added, "As life has come to imitate Person of Interest, it's been our great privilege to work on show for the past five seasons. We can't wait for you to experience this thrilling and final chapter."

As reported earlier, even though executive producer J.J. Abrams was dismayed about the likely good stories that the development team will still tell should the show continue, he assured that fans would be given a definite ending after season 5 episode 13. With regard to the viewers of the show, while it is sad to see "Person of Interest" coming to an end, it implies that at least, the plot of the show will exit and end without cliffhangers.

Concerning the recent rumors that other networks like Netflix and Hulu will possibly pick up the show, it appears like there is no talk being done for now. The show is said to be very expensive to produce, which may be the reason why people behind it are not looking into continuing with it.

CBS initially announced that the show would air two episodes on May 9 at 10 pm, according to TV. According to the publication, the original plan was better than airing a single episode and it would possibly hype and tease fans for season 6.

"Person of Interest" season 5 will return on May 3 at 10 pm EST on CBS. Watch the sneak peek below for more information.
