Hong Kong actor Louis Koo plays the lead role in the film adaptation of a popular Chinese online game.

Hong Kong movie actor Louis Koo ventures into the world of online gaming as he promotes the Chinese role-playing Internet game Shenmo, which would soon be adapted into a movie.

Louis Koo, also known as Koo Tin-lok, would be playing the lead role in the silver screen adaptation of a classic character in the martial arts game--a very different industry from what he has been used to in television and film.

Wang Zhongjun, the president of Huayi Brothers Media Corp., announced during the 12th China Digital Entertainment Expo and Conference in July last year that the 44-year-old actor would be playing one of the lead roles in the online game's film adaptation together with Angela Yeung, who is more popularly known as "Angelababy."

Wang explained that the film would be helmed by Hong Kong comedy director Wong Jing and is expected to be released by the end of 2015.

The game, which is operated by Guangzhou Yinhan Technology Co. Ltd., has been a huge hit after it was introduced into the world of mobile gaming.

Because of their goal to innovate in the movies that they make, the Huayi Bros. decided to try combining online games and filmmaking, similar to the case of the top-grossing online game Final Fantasy and Resident Evil.

To make this venture a success, the entertainment production firm has decided to include top endorsers in the loop.

As a popular spokesperson for various brands such as Tag Heuer, Lotte, Pepsi, Osim, Zero Eyewear, Lay's, and Samsung Galaxy, Louis Koo has the making of a perfect online game endorser.
