Snoop Dogg aka Snoop Lion performs live for fans during the 2014 Big Day Out Festival at Western Springs on January 17, 2014 in Auckland, New Zealand.

On March 28, Monday, it has been announced that the multi-platinum rapper Snoop Dogg will be inducted into the celebrity wing of the WWE's Hall of Fame Class of 2016.

Former WWE announcer Jim Ross first broke the news when he took to Twitter to congratulate the "Young, Wild, and Free" hit-maker for heading into the WWE's Hall of Fame. Dogg is apparently a wrestling fan, attending many WWE events in the past.

Dogg WWE merits include the "WrestleMania XXIV," where he served as the official master of ceremonies for the sixth match - Playboy Bunnymania Lumberjack. He also took part in WWE Raw as a guest host on Oct. 19, 2009, and recently collaborated with Hulk Hogan amid last year's WrestleMania 31, according to WWE's official website.

Aside from that, Dogg has a connection to WWE. He is a cousin of former NXT Women's Champion and current Diva, Mercedes Kaestner-Varnado under the ring name Sasha Banks.

A week ago, in an interview with Rolling Stone's Kenny Herzog, Banks already hinted that Dogg would get involved in her Triple Threat Match for the Diva's Championship at WrestleMania 32 on April 3.

"Maybe you should watch 'WrestleMania' and you might see it, you never know!" Banks said, adding that she do not need someone to walk her to the ring. "[But,] Snoop can make an appearance once in a while."

Being the first musician and the ninth celebrity enshrined in the WWE Hall of Fame, Dogg joins previous' celebrity inductees' such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Donald Trump, Drew Carey and Mike Tyson.

The rapper will be inducted along with Sting, the Fabulous Freebirds, the Godfather, Big Boss Man, Jacqueline Moore and Stan Hansen. Dogg is slated to be welcomed as a celebrity inductee for the Class of 2016 into the WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony, which will happen on April 2, Saturday at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.
