Many Don’t Want to Miss Shanghai Disney Resort’s Opening Day

It will be the first time Disney will show a Mandarin production of "The Lion King."

Still 76 days to go before Shanghai Disney Resort opens on June 16, yet opening day tickets were already sold out, according to the resort’s website.

The standard one-day ticket sells for 499 yuan and 375 yuan for children 1-1.5 meters tall and for seniors aged 65 and above. For the two-day ticket, the standard is priced at 950 yuan and 710 yuan for children and seniors.

Tickets for the Tony award-winning Broadway musical “The Lion King” for the June 16 presentation were also sold out.

“The Lion King” will be staged in Mandarin at the 1,200-seat Walt Disney Grand Theater.

On June 16, the resort will operate from 12 noon until 10 p.m.

According to its website, the park partnered with 30 travel agencies. It also commissioned Pandora, a Danish jewelry manufacturer and retailer, to create Disney character-themed metal bracelets.

Pandora opened a store at the Shanghai Times Square in 2014, reported Shanghai Daily.

William “Bill” Ernest, President and Managing Director, Asia, for Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, described the city of Shanghai as “exciting” and “dynamic.”

“We are very pleased to be here to build a world-class tourism and entertainment destination,” Ernest said.

Shanghai Disney Resort will feature Adventure Island, Dream World, Fantasy Garden, Mickey Avenue, Tomorrow's World and Treasure Bay.

Hunger will most likely catch up among visitors, and they can choose from more than a dozen dining outposts that will offer Chinese, Asian and Western cuisines.

For those wishing to stay overnight, they can book a room at the Toy Story Hotel. It boasts of 800 rooms, each good for four adults with rate starting from 850 yuan per night, and two restaurants.

The 420-room Shanghai Disneyland Hotel charges higher starting from 1,650 per night. The hotel features one indoor pool and three restaurants.

Kids may want to live forever in a fairytale-kind of place like Disney.
