'The Last of Us' is an action-adventure survival horror video game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment.

Just when fans thought Naughty Dog will finally work on "The Last of Us 2" sequel, Naughty Dog's creative director, Neil Druckmann just said that there is no progress on "The Last of Us" sequel just yet.

According to Druckmann, they would like to focus on releasing "Uncharted 4" DLCs first before looking at the ideas for "TLoU" they left on the table. "Uncharted" is set to launch on May 10.

"Our next focus is the single player [Uncharted 4] DLC and then, once we have enough resources, resurrect all those prototypes; see where we're at, see where the teams at, what they're excited for and go from there," Druckmann told Games Radar in an interview.

There is no denying that the demand for the series is high after winning multiple awards during its heyday. It won prestigious awards such as BAFTA Game of the Year in 2014 and VGX Award for best story in 2013 among others. Hence, Sony may likely capitalize on the opportunity and push Naughty Dog to do a sequel sooner or later.

Druckmann further added later in the interview that he and his partner, Bruce Straley, have come up with several ideas with regards to the sequel.

Meanwhile, the way "The Last of Us" ended left fans hanging with regards to what Joel and Ellie's next destination will be. [Warning: Spoilers ahead]. It is worth noting that Joel decided to choose Ellie's life over a possible cure for the infection that might be able to save mankind and killing the Firefly's leader, Marlene along the way. Unconscious during the whole incident, Ellie was left puzzled on what happened and is a bit suspicious.

Fans have made it known that they want Ellie to take the lead role with Joel gone on the scene due to old age, or probably deceased by that time as discussed in Playstation.com. Also, Marlene's path to becoming the Fireflies boss was discussed in the article as a possible storyline in the sequel. YouTube user Grant Voegtle shared the same concept for "The Last of Us 2" with Ellie finally in her teenage years and equipped with Joel's combat prowess.
