Ex-couple, Drew Barrymore and Will Kopelman, attend the Montblanc & The Cinema Society screening of Roadside Attractions & Lionsgate's 'Miss You Already' after party at The Rainbow Room on October 25, 2015 in New York City.

Actress Drew Barrymore and Will Kopelman has officially called it quits. A few days after the divorce news first broke out, Barrymore is now breaking her silence about their split.

While Barrymore previously admitted that it was never really love at first sight with her ex-spouse, most recent reports noted that the 41-year-old actress already hinted about this sad turn of events in her life.

"I really had a hard time a couple of months ago and kind of knew life was heading in a new direction," said Barrymore, in her first post-split interview with PopSugar.

On April 2, Barrymore and Kopelman confirmed in a joint statement that they are officially separated. For the past months, the ex-couple have denied bits of gossip claiming that they are experiencing a rocky marriage relationship.

"Sadly, our family is separating legally, although we do not feel this takes away from us being a family," the pair told US Weekly Magazine.

The statement added that although divorce may make one feel like a failure, Barrymore and Kopelman, are optimistic that eventually, both of them will begin to find grace in the idea that life goes on.

"Our children are our universe, and we look forward to living the rest of our lives with them as the first priority," the pair added.

Now, several speculations and rumors are making the rounds online, saying that although there was no cheating involved in their break-up, cracks in their relationship were reportedly starting to show weeks ago at a friend's wedding.

The anonymous source claims that the ex-couple are only talking and interacting briefly, adding that Barrymore does not seem happy in general during their friend's wedding on March 19, held at the Ojai, California.

Another report came saying that the couple has previously been working out the following strides in their split including living arrangements for the girls. The source asserts that Barrymore and her two daughters will most likely stay in New York City, where Olive will reportedly attend pre-school.

In early 2011, Barrymore and Kopelman began dating and later wed in a lavish ceremony held at Montecito, California on June 2, 2012. Four years of being married, the ex-couple are parents to daughters - Olive, 3, and Frankie, 23 months.
