Karl Anthony-Towns grabs the rebound against D'Angelo Russell.

Karl-Anthony Towns was able to live up to his first overall pick status, and he is also proving analysts right when they labeled him as a cornerstone talent, as he is currently poised to win the Rookie of the Year award.

Towns have been tearing up the stats sheet as he is averaging a double-double as a rookie, posting 18.3 points, 10.5 boards and 1.7 blocks on a nightly basis. Also, he is highly regarded for his work ethic as he seeks to improve every aspect of his game every night.

In fact, he takes it to himself every time he makes a mistake or if he feels he could have done something better at certain possessions.

"I've never felt like I've had a good game," Karl-Anthony Towns told NBA.com. "It's hard to get me to even say I played good. That's just in me. I'm just never satisfied."

The center further added that this trait of his annoys his friends but this drive enabled him to tally impressive numbers as a rookie.

In fact, other NBA superstars recognize the work Towns is putting in on his game and for the Timberwolves. OKC Thunder's Kevin Durant said that the center from Kentucky will definitely make it big and one day might be enshrined to the Hall of Fame.

"He's going to be a Hall of Famer in this league," OKC star Durant said.

The numbers Towns is posting up just hints how huge and phenomenal Towns will be in the near future, Sea of Blue reported. He is a different kind of player that focuses on angles of the game that players in his position rarely excel at. Also, former Kentucky players like Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins are on their way to that mold too but Towns will be a different kind of beast in the future, the website added.

With Towns on his way to winning his first award, it will be interesting to see if the T-Wolves will be playoff contenders in two to three years with Wiggins and Lavine backing up the star center.

Meanwhile, here are some of Towns' highlights against the Portland Trail Blazers last Apr. 9. Towns scored the game-winning shot.
