Things are not looking good for "Jill & Jessa: Counting On." A new report revealed that another big advertiser bailed from the TLC show. To make matters worse, the ratings, which is reportedly the only factor keeping TLC from canceling the "19 Kids and Counting" spinoff, are going downhill.
According to In Touch Weekly, two more companies, Dole and Intuit (TurboTax) have pulled out their ads from "Jill & Jessa: Counting On." A spokesperson for Intuit claimed they were unaware that their ad will be shown on the new Duggar family reality show, explaining that their placement was "part of a bulk media buy." A representative from Dole Packaged Food, on the other hand, called the ad a "mistake."
"The company does not run advertising on shows with content that might be offensive to our consumers," they said.
Over the past month, more and more advertisers are abandoning "Jill & Jessa: Counting On," including Wrigley, Credit Karma, The UPS Store and Verizon Wireless, among others. A total of 17 companies have already pulled out their support from the show.
The outlet further reported that the ratings for "Jill & Jessa: Counting On" have declined 30 percent since its premiere episode aired in March.
According to Examiner, TLC has been facing increased pressure to cancel "Jill & Jessa: Counting On" and pull any future Duggar TV projects. Since the network cancelled "19 Kids and Counting" in 2015, following Josh Duggar's scandal, it comes as no surprise that they are trying to make up for lost times. The outlet reported that the network lost over $19 million from advertisers when they were left with no choice but to pull the plug on the show.
The Duggar family also took the cancellation hard as they were reportedly earning $25,000 to $45,000 an episode. Jim Bob and Michelle also had to cancel several speaking engagement and lost a book contract following the scandal. When TLC decided to green light "Jill & Jessa: Counting On" the entire family reportedly were more than eager to come on board, "desperate to regain their TV fame and fortune."
"Jill & Jessa: Counting On" airs Tuesdays on TLC.
