Will Josh Charles return for 'The Good Wife" season 7 finale?

With just three episodes of the “The Good Wife” season 7 left until the series finale, the cast revealed that the finale episode is going to be “satisfying, uplifting and sad” for viewers. Co-creators Robert and Michelle King also addressed spin-off rumors and Josh Charles reprising his role as Will Gardner in the finale.

In an interview with E! News, the showrunner said that it was extremely emotional filming the last episodes of "The Good Wife" season 7. They shared that the entire cast and crew stayed up until 6 a.m. the next day drinking going over the best moments they shared on set.

Robert also talked about the possibility of having a spin-off series. He admitted that while it is still in its early stages, a spin-off is definitely something that they will be interested in.

"CBS seems to be very motivated-they like these characters, but they also like the world and all these subsidiary characters, so there may be a chance," he explained.

Interestingly, the showrunners did not deny Charles' returning to "The Good Wife" season 7 finale. Speaking to Variety, Robert explained that there are a lot of surprising things that fans should look out for in the last episode.

"We don't want to squash those rumors, because why would we?" But there are a lot of possibilities for the last episodes."

Charles's character, Will, was killed off in the season 5 of "The Good Wife." He, however, returned the following season to direct an episode, in which his voice even had a "cameo."

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Robert also talked about what really happened between Alicia (Julianna Margulies) and Will in Georgetown.

"We always thought this was a relationship about bad timing. It was a relationship where they were supposed to meet at a restaurant, and she thought she was on time but she was a half an hour early and then he arrived. They both felt kind of pissed off, like they had been rejected by the other. It was really a relationship that was meant to be, and like a lot of our lives, when you miss that phone call or miss that moment, it just stopped," he explained.

"The Good Wife" season 7 airs Sundays on CBS.
