"ARK: Survival Evolved" has reached a new sales milestone on Xbox One and PC platforms, even though the game is still not completed. The video game will also get a new mod program with one official mod, which lets users submit mods that might be added to the Xbox One and PC versions of the game.
According to Studio Wildcard co-founder Jesse Rapczak in a press release from Gamasutra, the game's success has increased the game studio's content goals, and with the help and feedback from the Early Access players, they have raised their ambitions higher. They were not expecting other features like modding, local multiplayer, and other new features before, but now that has changed. When the game launches, it will have many more features, but it will take more time to finish everything, he added.
Coming along with the new mod program, there will be a new mod that players can try out in May, which is a map called The Center, according to the game's official website, and it will have more than double the content of the base game. There will be also another mod coming this summer, and it will be called Primitive Plus. The PC version of the game already had these new mods, but they were not available on the Xbox One, until now.
The Center mod is a fantasy-themed map, and will have more content than the original game map, with a lot of new biomes, dungeons, waterfalls, floating islands, and many more structures. It was designed by the game's community member Ben Burkard, and he designed this mod by hand without any auto-generated content. This content is officially playable and free on PC and Xbox One.
The Primitive Plus mod will challenge players in only using wood and stone without using any other advanced metals to create weapons for survival. Players will get detailed new mechanics and new items that will be compatible with this mod and they will be able to use this as a functionality mod on all official maps of the game.
In other news, PlayStation 4 will get the free-to-play spinoff game called "ARK: Survival of the Fittest" this summer. It is already available on PC, but there is no news of an Xbox One version coming soon.
