‘Tekken X Street Fighter’ release date for PS4 and Xbox One unlikely in 2016? Katsuhiro Harada explains

'Tekken X Street Fighter' is an upcoming crossover fighting game being developed by Bandai Namco Entertainment.

Fans will just have to wait a bit longer as one of the most hyped upcoming fighting games, "Tekken X Street Fighter," for PS4 and Xbox One will be shelved for the meantime.

Although this might be a bummer for some fans, producer Katsuhiro Harada gave a reasonable explanation on why they are halting the game's progress. According to Harada, releasing this game early may jeopardize the success of "Street Fighter V" which was just released on Feb. 16. Also, it would not help the cause of "Tekken 7" which has a huge fan base as well.

"When we develop fighting games, we try to keep the core community in mind as well as the wider audience that wants to play these games," Harada told Game SpotHe further added that the fighting games genre are saturated at this moment and they will likely release the "Tekken X Street Fighter" game once fans are hungry and craving for something new.

However, Harada's roster for this fighting game has been decided as confirmed by the producer. Not only that, each character's move sets has been configured as well. Although he did not state when, Harada further added in the interview that the characters to appear were long decided.

Meanwhile, the "Street Fighter V" game roster keeps on expanding as the iconic character Guile will be joining the fray. A staple in many of the "Street Fighter" game adaptations, this will be his seventh appearance in the game franchise.

Guile made his debut on "Street Fighter II" and since then, the character went on to grace the roster of seven other games. Aside from Ryu and Ken, the elite military man is considered as the face of the "Street Fighter" game franchise.

Guile is poised to carry over his trademark attacks Sonic Boom and Summersault Kick, but what fans need to watch out for is his projectile attack, Sonic Blade. This move is meant to boost Sonic Boom's potency or it is similar as a counter-atack to other character's projectile attacks like Ryu's Hadouken, Event Hubs reported.

Here is a teaser of Guile in "Street Fighter V."
