"X-Men: Apocalypse" will hit cinemas on May 18.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" has given fans more than they could hope for with the release of a new trailer that features even more mutants, and a surprise cameo appearance of Wolverine.

In the newest trailer, fans get a clearer picture of the conflicts surrounding the superheroes and the anti-heroes as Oscar Isaac's Apocalypse awakens in 1983. Past trailers have consistently centered on Apocalypse's image as the robust and powerful ancient super villain. The new trailer shows him as a human, prior to his transformation.

"It's not a big moment, but you get a taste of who he was. That's when he's not Apocalypse. This is when he's a willing contributor," director Bryan Singer explained via Empire.

An even bigger destruction is shown in the trailer, with Sydney taking a huge hit. There is also a scene where Apocalypse and Charles Xavier are in a death match. It appears that the fight took place on the astral plane, where neither mutant is limited by his physical body.

The third and last "X-Men: Apocalypse" trailer also presents a closer look at the new mutants such as Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Psylocke (Olivia Munn), Scott Summers/Cyclops (Tye Sheridan) and Jean Grey (Sophie Turner).

In an interview with Collider, Singer revealed that Scott's and Jean's journeys are one of the biggest, most important arcs in "X-Men: Apocalypse." He also hinted that there will be a particular scene where Jean helps Scott to aim at enemies, since at this point in the story the young Cyclops still does not have his specialized visor, making it impossible for him to see while he shoots laser beams from his eyes.

Quicksilver (Evan Peters) also makes the surprising confirmation that Magneto (Michael Fassbender) is his father. In recall, both have met in "X-Men: Days of Future Past," making it interesting to see how the story pans out from there.

Finally, fans get a taste of Adamantium-equipped Wolverine. According to Singer, Wolverine's participation in the film will be a pivotal point in the "X-Men" movie franchise.

"It hints to a sequence that again fits within the canon of all six movies, and the birth of a new direction," Singer revealed.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" will hit cinemas on May 18.
