Nintendo NX Confirmed for March 2017 Release: Will ‘Pokémon Z’ or ‘Pokémon Sun & Moon’ Join ‘Legend of Zelda’ as Launch Titles?

Nothing has been known about Nintendo NX, other than it is a mystifying device that won't be released in 2016.

The Nintendo NX is finally confirmed including the machine's release date, which its maker said will be no later than March 2017. Likely part of the deal is a fresh take on the Legend of Zelda, rumored as among the launch titles. Will Nintendo, by any chance, include the Pokémon Z or the Pokémon Sun and Moon?

Looking on the details that Nintendo has provided so far, the NX launch titles remain iffy at best. While the company has committed that Zelda will be on the Wii U and its new console at the same time, it stopped short of giving details, specifically the exact schedule on when Wii and NX gamers will get to play Zelda.

But the consensus is for the NX to be compelling, game title support must be given emphasis and beefing up the launch titles lineup should be a good start. Having Zelda out of the box will certainly boost the initial Nintendo NX sales numbers and more so if hit game titles will be bundled as well.

To that, the upcoming Pokémon titles quickly come to mind. Porting any of the Z or Sun and Moon from 3DS should be easy for Nintendo. As The Verge reported, the NX is likely a hybrid device composed of a console and a mobile unit with stand-alone features.

If true, then any of the Pokémon Z or Sun and Moon will easily fit in to the new platform that the Nintendo NX is envisioned to be.

In a related report, BGR said that two compelling upgrades outside of the usual hardware bumps will prove crucial for the NX to succeed - enhanced user experience and quality. Both are lacking with the Wii U that spelled failure for the gaming machine.

It's hard to imagine that Nintendo will repeat the same mistake with the NX so asking not only for Zelda but also for sure-hits like the Pokémon Z and Sun & Moon is not entirely impossible.

At any rate, it looks like that the Nintendo NX is doing its best to make ensure that its next console offering will be totally different from the past efforts. The company insists that on release date, the Nintendo NX is unique device with a fresh platform and will be "the core and primary focus of our business."
