Green Day's 12th studio album slated for Fall release?

Green Day arrives for the 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards held at the O2 Arena on November 5, 2009 in Berlin, Germany.

While it is no secret that Green Day has been buckling down for a new collection, the most recent reports claim that the punk rock band will be releasing their much-awaited album later this fall.

The good news came to light when a pseudonym user Insomniac186 took to the band's community forum and claimed that he bumped into frontman Billie Joe Armstrong in Oakland, California, on April 24, Sunday, and was informed that the band has set their eyes on a fall release for their 12th studio album.

The band's long-time publicist, Brian Bumbery, confirmed the good news, but stressed that he could not confirm a release date when contacted by Newsweek. In late 2015, Armstrong shared that they are in no rush to meet a deadline for the new album.

"We're not going to try and pull off some, like, victory lap over this because I definitely want the music to come from a real place and be inspired, not just because we got honored or anything like that, but because we're honoring music," Green Day frontman said, in an interview with Rolling Stone.

Nonetheless, it is strongly speculated that releasing the album this year would make sense considering that 2016 marks the band's 30th anniversary. Music producer, Rob Cavallo, previously said that the band's new music is astounding, claiming that he have heard the five new songs that Armstrong has composed and demoed.

This revelation coincides with some reports claiming that the band is planning another music revolution at some point this year. The said speculations began to circulate after the 44-year-old lead vocalist took to Twitter on Dec. 30, 2015, expressing his desire to put an end to the "pop-punk" phrase.

The forthcoming album will be the band's first in four years' since 2012's "¡Tré!", the final installment in the "¡Uno! ¡Dos! ¡Tré!" album trilogy. While nothing is impossible, the release date reports should be taken with a pinch of salt.
