[Console Wars] PlayStation 4.5 vs Xbox Two vs Nintendo NX: Which should you choose? - VR gaming or PC gaming capabilities? [UPDATED]

Microsoft corporate vice president, Kudo Tsunoda speaks about the Oculus and XBox One partnership during E3 2015.

Gaming console manufacturers usually release new generation consoles every six to eight years. For instance, Nintendo followed up the Wii with the Wii U after six years, while Sony and Microsoft released the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 seven and eight years following the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, respectively.

Nintendo released the Wii U a year before Sony and Microsoft made their flagship consoles available for purchase. Nonetheless, it has been less than five years since all three brands of consoles came out. Now, it seems like these tech companies are gearing to change the current console cycle trend. According to rumors, Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft would be releasing new gaming platforms, namely Nintendo Nx for Nintendo, Xbox Two for Microsoft, PlayStation 4.5 for Sony, as early as this year.

So how does the Nintendo NX, PlayStation 4.5 and Xbox Two compare with each other? Below is a brief run down.

Confirmation

Of the three new consoles, only Nintendo has confirmed the arrival of Nintendo NX. In fact, according to Design& Trend, the new Nintendo console would be available by March 2017.

On the other hand, PlayStation 4.5 and Xbox Two remain mere speculations.

A report by Value Walk claims that Sony is currently in the midst of developing the PlayStation 4.5, which is codenamed Neo internally.

While Microsoft has yet to confirm the arrival of Xbox Two, it is almost expected that the company would be releasing a console to rival the speculated PlayStation 4.5. Unlike Sony, however, Microsoft exec Phil Spencer has already confirmed that the company is not interested in making a .5 version of their Xbox console.

Specs

Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima recently revealed that the Nintendo NX would be an entirely different console than the Wii U. Details about the Nintendo NX's specs have been scarce; however, rumors claims that Nintendo NX would allow the user to continue playing with a mobile device without the need to be in the proximity of the console.

PlayStation 4.5, on the other hand, is expected to run game titles at a higher frame rates. Moreover, the PlayStation 4.5 is most likely to focus on virtual reality gaming.

Unfortunately, details about the Xbox Two have been difficult to come by. Reports, however, claim that Microsoft has been experimenting on specifications similar to PC gaming capabilities. It is likely that the upcoming console would have almost the same components as gaming computers.
