Movie Guide 2016: The best films to watch this summer and release dates

'Captain America' tops the list of must-watch movie for summer 2016

The summer 2016 would be very exciting for movie-goers as there are so many good flicks lined up for release during the season. Judging by the movie titles, it seems that it will be a summer of action and superhero stories and the parade of superhuman powers will kick-start on May 6 with the showing of "Captain America: Civil War."

Likewise, from May to August, numerous films will be on theaters so narrowing down the list to 15 movie recommendations will make it easier for the viewers to browse. For movie-lovers who do not want to miss the best films this summer, here is the roster of possible blockbusters and their expected release dates:

Captain America: Civil War (May 6)

This is the thirteenth installment of Marvel superhero movies and the third in the Captain America series. This new sequel was already predicted to be a monster hit that could go past the US$1 billion sales mark. According to Variety, the film is "a decisively superior hero vs. hero extravaganza that also ranks as the most mature and substantive picture to have yet emerged from the Marvel Cinematic Universe."

Money Monster (May 13)

A George Clooney and Julia Roberts starrer-movie. It tells the story of a piqued investor (Jack O' Connell) who staged a hostage drama on live television after he lost a lot of money due to a bad advice given by Wall Street guru (Clooney). He sought revenge by holding the guru and TV producer (Roberts) hostage.

The Nice Guys (May 20)

Ryan Gosling and Russel Crowe teamed up for this "buddy cop" type of comedy. The movie is set in Los Angeles during the 70s era. The two must work to resolve a murder case that is beset with major conspiracy theories.

Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising

This is a sequel to 2014 "Neighbors" flick and it continues with the new parents Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne teaming up with Zac Efron and his fraternity brothers, to topple and prevent the invasion of sorority group headed by Chloe Grace Moretz.

The Angry Birds Movie

The cute video game was made into a movie and the outcome is a funny story about birds fighting the pigs. The characters will come alive through the talented voice actors like Peter Dinklage, Josh Gad, Jason Sudeikis, Bill Hader and Maya Rudolph.

X-Men: Apocalypse (May 27)

The X-Men movies just keep on coming and this is the ninth installment now. In the film, an ancient and world's first mutant, Apocalypse, awakens and wanted to rule the world. Now, the X-Men heroes must unify in order to thwart the evil plan of the new villain.

The rest of the movies to watch for this date include "Alice through the Looking Glass" and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows." For June 17, kids and adults alike would be excited for the coming of Disney's "Finding Dory."

Next in the list are: "Independence Day: Resurgence" (June 24), "The Legend of Tarzan" (July 1), "Ghostbusters" (July 15), "Ice Age: Collision Course" and "Star Trek Beyond"
(July 22) and finally, "Suicide Squad" on Aug. 5.

The movies in this list are based on the The Seattle Times line-up. Whatever type of movie you prefer, there would surely be one that will satisfy your taste.
