The American crime thriller television series, "Narcos," has started its filming for Season 2. However, although the producers would want to film the death of Pablo Escobar on the exact roof where it all happened, they were unlucky to do so.
According to reports, the first season of the series that aired on Netflix in 2015 was a massive hit. The story mainly focuses on the life events of Pablo Escobar, played by Wagner Moura, from his younger years in the drug industry to him being one of the biggest drug lords in Colombia.
Unfortunately, although Escobar's journey was thrilling and provided excitement to the audience, the producers could no longer keep him alive in "Narcos" Season 2. During an interview with Slash Film in January, "Narcos" showrunner Eric Newman said that there is no way to keep Wagner alive in the series.
Newman explained that the reason behind it is because "Narcos" Season 1 did tackle 15 years of Escobar's life, from his newbie career in the drug industry to his big time role as a King Pin, plus his escape in the summer of 1992. Given the history of the character, Escobar will only have 18 months to live after escaping from prison. He added that they could not change the history, and that the show has been designed to have an ending that way.
On one hand, it has been reported by TMZ that the "Narcos" Season 2's producers tried to convince the current owner of the house where Escobar was shot dead on that house's roof way back in 1993. However, the crew failed to convince the owner because the homeowners or the community are still terrified about what happened 23 years ago. Luckily, it was noted that the producers did found one that would be sufficient to film the scene for because "Narcos" Season 2.
In regards to the release date of "Narcos" Season 2, it has been confirmed to have a premiere this year but the exact date of Season 2's pilot episode is still unclear. Perhaps, news about its release date might come up in the coming months, knowing that the production has already begun.
