A North Carolina woman, battling breast cancer for the last six years, has won the lottery again. It is her second time to win in three months after winning a million dollars in February. She had beaten the odds of 1 in 2.7 million to get the jackpot prize in April draw.
Gina Short could not believe it when she first won the lottery in February. Two months after, the North Carolina woman, who is still undergoing chemotherapy was in disbelief when she hit the top All or Nothing Prize. She and her husband, Len, won $250,000 during the draw on April 29.
"We checked the same ticket six or seven times because we thought we misread it," Gina told WLTX. Gina's husband, Len told the publication that the winning money will be going to her chemotherapy treatments. The couple will bring home $173,125 after deducting the taxes.
Before winning the lottery the second time, Gina won $1 million in the Ultimate Millions second-chance drawing on February 10. The North Carolina woman called her it a "second chance" in life. She took home $415,000 after she chose to receive a lump sum payment.
After Gina was diagnosed with breast cancer six years ago, she told her husband how unlucky he was for having her. In an interview with Daily Mail, she said that Len got the wrong girl and claimed she was feeling luckier than ever.
Meanwhile, the North Carolina woman, fighting breast cancer, was not the first one to win the lottery for the second time in April. An owner of Beef burger joint in Greensboro had the same luck after he won $150,000 for playing the $500 Cash scratch-off game in April. Ralph Havis, who used to play scratch-off ticket won the same prize in 2014.
Gina and her husband couldn't contain their emotions after winning the lottery two times in a row. They said, they were so thankful for all the blessings. She said, her whole life was about "second chances."
