Ryan Murphy has a new series in development with FX. Following his two anthology series: “American Horror Story” and “American Crime Story”, the prolific producer closed a new project called “Feud” with the cable network.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Feud" will center around Joan Crawford and Bette Davis’ rift which occurred while creating the 1962 film, “What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?”

Crawford and Davis were both aware that the aforementioned film was critical to their careers. This issue led to the development of tension while filming Baby Jane which matured into a life-changing rivalry. As a result, the film became a box office hit and received five Academy Awards nominations.

During the ceremony, Crawford accepted the Oscar for Anne Bancroft even though it meant that her co-star, Davis, had lost. Subsequently, their longtime rift became the subject of iUniverse's 2000 book titled "Bette and Joan: The Divine Feud" penned by Shaun Considine.

The first installment of "Feud" will star "American Horror Story" lead, Jessica Lange and Susan Sarandon. The duo will be joined by an A-list cast including: Alfred Molina, Judy Davis, Stanley Tucci and Dominic Burgess.

According to Deadline, FX Networks CEO John Landgraf released a statement following the announcement of Murphy’s latest TV offering. Landgraf said that "Feud" aims to offer a “seductive” and deeper view at what goes behind legendary and personal conflicts.

“Feud adds a third and equally ambitious franchise to Ryan’s unprecedented slate of FX anthological limited series and marks our third such collaboration with studio partner 20th Century Fox Television/Fox 21," he added.

The first season of the rivalry drama will run with a total of eight episodes with Brad Pitt and Dede Gardner serving as executive producers. Its first installment will begin production this fall with several episodes to be helmed by creator/showrunner Ryan Murphy.

FX is set to launch the new anthology series sometime in 2017.
