Network carrier Verizon has released the Android Marshmallow update for Motorola Droid Maxx 2.
Verizon is rolling out the Android Marshmallow update for all the users in a gradual manner, according to Droid Life. All the users are expected to get the update by the end of May.
The OTA notification will eventually come to all the Motorola Droid Maxx 2 users. However, users can also manually check their device by going to Settings> About Device> Check for Software Update to see if they are prompted for an update.
The Motorola Droid Maxx 2 users then need to download the Android Marshmallow update over a stable and fast Wi-Fi connection. They can also download it via a strong cellular data signal, but they may incur extensive data charges.
It is also recommended to connect Motorola Droid Maxx 2 to a power source if the battery levels are less than 50 percent. As the Android Marshmallow update is over 1GB, it will take some time for downloading it completely.
Even though Android Marshmallow was released in October 2016, the update has come very late for the Motorola Droid Maxx 2 users. This is because the network carrier Verizon was testing the update before releasing it to their users.
Motorola Droid Maxx 2 was released in October 2015 with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box, according to GSM Arena. It is also expected to get the upcoming operating system Android N by early-2017.
The device also has provision for expandable storage of up to 128GB with the usage of a microSD card. With Android Marshmallow, this feature will get a new lease of life.
The users can use the space of their microSD card as adoptable storage. In this feature the users can use the memory card as an internal storage entity.
However, to utilize this feature the users need to have a high-performance UHS-1 class microSD card. Android Marshmallow also allows for secure storage on the expansion card through the process of encryption. In case the card is utilized on any other device, then it would need to be completely erased before usage.
