Bundesliga 2015-2016 runners-up Borussia Dortmund (24-4-5, 77 points) is set to play middling club FC Cologne (10-11-12, 42 points) on Saturday, May 14th at the Signal Iduna Park in the two team's final game of the season.

Borussia Dortmund is assured of second place and direct qualification in next season's Champions League group stage at the conclusion of the current German top flight season as they are 20 points ahead of third-running team Bayer Leverkusen in the overall standings.

Thomas Tuchel's team fell short of their attempt to unseat four straight Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich when they lost to lowly club Eintracht Frankfurt, 0-1, at the Commerzbank Arena last Saturday, as reported by BBC Sport.

Midfielder Stefan Aigner scored the lone goal of the match at the 14th minute for Eintracht as both teams went goalless for the rest of the way.

The loss was Die Borussen's first in 13 games as it also snapped their three-game winning run. Their previous defeat before that was curiously against Cologne, 1-2, during their first meeting of the season at the RheinEnergieStadion in December.

It was also the first time BVB failed to score in seven games since their goalless tie with the Bavarians in early March.

Meanwhile, Cologne settled for a 0-0 draw with bottom three squad Werder Bremen at their home field of RheinEnergieStadion also last Saturday, as per ESPN.

The Billy Goats had the closest chance in the contest with an individual move from French striker Anthony Modeste during the first half stoppage time but it was wild past Bremen goal tender Felix Wiedwald.

It was the second consecutive drawn match for manager Peter Stöger's side and their fourth winless effort in their last six outings which dropped them to the ninth spot of the 18-team German top flight table.

Die Geissböcke is safe from demotion to 2. Bundesliga next season as they are currently seven points above the bottom three relegation zone with one game left in their campaign this term.

The predicted result is a 2-0 victory for Borussia Dortmund.

Borussia Dortmund starting lineup (4-1-3-2 formation): Burki; Durm, Bender, Hummels, Schmelzer; Sahin, Mkhitaryan, Kagawa, Reus; Aubameyang, Ramos
