The Chinese government announces its efforts to become one of the football superpowers in the world by 2050. The country takes its first step to realize its dream with the creation of a national football team.
Team manager Sven-Goran Eriksson is an experienced coach of football teams in Roma, Manchester City and England. After migrating to China in 2013 to be a coach in the Chinese Super League (CSL), he entered the management team of Shanghai SPG.
Eriksson said that the football season this 2016 has "gone crazy" because President Xi Jinping is eager to see significant improvements of the sport in the country.
Romain Woo is also part of the Chinese football dream team, being the frontline football agent in the country. As a representative of 50 talented coaches and football players in China, Woo runs his company Van Hao Sports with unstoppable ambition and great confidence. He gained his incredible experience from working with the Dutch football club PSV Einhoven.
According to BBC, Chinese Super League boss Ma Chengquan envisions China as the holder of the prestigious World Cup. With this strong belief, Chengquan wants to pioneer major improvements in sports facilities and media technologies across the football clubs in the country.
Despite having a "great league with great clubs," Chengquan admits the current inability of China's footballers to deliver the performance that is expected by their fans and the government as well. The president would like the team to emerge from its 81st rank in the FIFA World and become victorious in the years to come.
Tom Byer is also part of the team. Although an American, Byer is now trying to create a football cult status in China, as what he did in Japan years ago. He joins the efforts of cultivating a football culture in the country with the Ministry of Education. Byer believes that there is a need to promote football across the 64 Chinese cities to educate the children about the sport.
