Blake Shelton, 39, and his love, Gwen Stefani, 46, performed the song they have composed together on "The Voice." On the night of May 9, Monday, the two took the stage and sang "Go Ahead and Break My Heart," which is one of the songs on Shelton's upcoming album.

When the debut performance of the song was announced, Shelton shared with the audience that the song is among his favorites from those he had written and recorded. He said, "It came from a time and place when Gwen and I were beginning our journey together."

As the couple experienced difficulties letting their guards down with each other, the song could not be more honest. The country singer added, "I'm honored to have written and to perform this song with the great Gwen Stefani."

The two singers met when they both served as coaches on NBC's reality show and have been dating since 2015. They did not break eye contact while performing center stage the single of the album, "If I'm Honest" which Shelton said his most personal ever. The couple shared a sweet hug after the performance.

The Southern countryside singer then walked his lady down the stairs and off the stage before returning to his red chair, according to E! News. Shelton's album will hit stores on May 20.

The night was centered on country music with Florida Georgia Line also performing their new single, "H.O.L.Y." NBC's "The Voice" airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m.

From "The Voice" stage, Shelton and Stefani are set to bring their duet to the 2016 Billboard Music Awards on May 22 in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Madonna will also perform a highly-anticipated number as a tribute to her friend, the late legend Prince who passed away on April 21, People reported.

Other announced performers on the music awards include Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Britney Spears, Demi Lovato, DNCE and Celine Dion who will receive the Icon Award. The night will be hosted by Ludacris and Ciara and will air at 8 p.m. on ABC.
