GoPro Strikes Deal With Roku For A Dedicated Channel On The Latter’s Distribution Boxes

GoPro Hero 3+ is one of the best selling action cameras on the market.

Fans of outdoor extreme sports will no doubt love the latest news from GoPro as the company recently announced that it will work with Roku to create a dedicated channel.

GoPro already has content distribution deal with Virgin America, LG and Xbox but this latest deal with Roku is the biggest deal the camera company has done so far, according to Tech Crunch.

Recently, GoPro has signed a deal with National Hockey League signed a deal that will integrate action cameras to its players, the results are spectacular.

The new GoPro Channel will be custom-made to fit on the Roku distribution boxes. GoPro's action sports video will tap Roku's 10 million users and could sky-rocket GoPro's popularity. In fact GoPro's market share has become so big that it prompted the company to offer an IPO on May 2014.

The new channel will feature a playlist suggested by GoPro as well as a dedicated section for favorite sections. Roku users will also be treated to a showcase section where various GoPro cameras will be presented.

GoPro head of programming Adam Dornbusch told Venture Beat, "Our business is telling meaningful stories of the world's most passionate camera users, and now you're going to be able to see it on big screens connected to Roku boxes."

Dornbusch added that they are planning to extend the channel distribution in 2016.

The new channel will also work on all generations of the Roku device.

Currently, GoPro already has a vibrant community on YouTube and the latest deal with Roku will give the company more accessibility to a bigger market.
