Michael Fassbender, reprising his role as Magneto arrives at the "X-Men: Apocalypse" VIP screening at Event Cinemas George Street on May 16, 2016 in Sydney, Australia.

During the "X-Men: Apocalypse" Sydney premiere on May 16, Monday, actor Michael Fassbender walked on the red carpet to promote the franchise, where he reprised his role as powerful Magneto. The Irish actor was the center of attention as he answered questions to reporters and told them that he was not a fan of the gym, and at the same time, he kept his privacy when it comes to his girlfriend, Alicia Vikander.

Fassbender, who is presently in Australia to shoot the sequel to 2012's "Prometheus," surprised everyone at the premiere when he claimed he found the gym a depressing place. The 39-year-old actor made it big when he made his debut Spartan film "300" in 2006. It was a surprising revelation on how he hates the gym because of his role in the "300" as a masculine Spartan.

"I find the gym one of the most depressing places in the world if I'm being honest," Daily Mail quoted Fassbender as saying. Although not a fan of the gym, he quickly added that he like being active and like playing games. He also shared that he is now learning and enjoying surfing.

In his third time to portray the role of Erik Lehnsherr, also known as Magneto, he revealed that he enjoyed the complexities of his dark character. The Oscar-nominated actor claimed Magneto is a complicated guy with lots of layers to his character and that gave him more depth as an actor.

During the premiere, Fassbender talked about how he developed his close bond with his fellow actors, including James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence and Rose Byrne. He claimed they are like a family.

Meanwhile, Fassbender remained silent on his relationship with co-star and girlfriend in real life Alicia Vikander when he was asked at the event. The two reportedly developed their romance during the set of the movie, "The Light Between the Oceans," but eversince they have kept mum on the real score of their relationship.

At one point during the premiere, Fassbender shot down a question about Vikander, The Sydney Morning Herald reported. He remained silent and opted to move to another reporter when the topic was about to move on to his other movie "TLBO."

Fassbender and Vikander reportedly became an item at a movie set in Tasmania in 2014. Since then, the couple has never talked about their romance publicly. Earlier in 2016, they gave fans a display of their romance when they kissed at the Academy Awards.
