“Descendants of the Sun” star Song Joong-ki may be the most popular actor in China and South Korea now, but it was not his childhood wish to be a movie and TV celebrity.

Instead, the 30-year-old dreamt of becoming a news anchor, according to a 2010 letter of Song Joong-ki’s high school teacher. The letter, titled “To My Pupil Song Joong Ki,” surfaced recently, reported Soompi.

The unnamed male teacher was Song Joong Ki’s homeroom during his senior year. He studied in Daejeon City and was a short track speed skater during his first year of high school, but quit the sport after an injury. He instead concentrated on his studies and scored 380 out of 400 points on the national college entrance which earned him a spot at Sungkyunkwan University where he took up business administration.

The teacher recalled and was grateful for a placard that Song Joong-ki made on Teacher’s Day. The student then wrote “The best teacher since the founding of the country.”

The teacher wrote, “I thought you were going to fulfill your dream to be a news anchor, so I was surprised to see you on TV. I didn’t think you would establish yourself so quickly.” He ended the letter with a request from his wife to send him a few autographs which he would then give to his child.

Although Song Joong-ki is now an actor, a recent Seven Edu survey to celebrate 2016 Inventor’s Day showed that he is the top choice which celebrity would be perfect as an inventor like Thomas Edison. He got 42 percent of the votes, followed by G-Dragon (24 percent), Seo Tae-ji and Park Shin-yang (8 percent), Lee Min-ho and Park Shin-hye (4 percent) and Song Hye-kyo and Kim Hye-soo (3 percent).
