Nintendo has not announced what the Nintendo NX exactly is but more reports are claiming that it would be a hybrid console that will be taking on the PlayStation NEO 4K or the Xbox Two.

The only thing sure about the Nintendo NX is that it will be launching in 2017 together with anticipated Legend of Zelda titles. However, the rumored specs of the hybrid console are exciting the fans.

First and foremost, the reports claim that it would be more powerful than the current PlayStation 4 from Sony. This means that it would be part of the next-gen consoles such as the PS4.5 or the Xbox Two from Microsoft.

The Japanese video game company has said that the Nintendo NX will not be a replacement for the Wii U despite all of the other claims. Analysts are now saying that the console would be a hybrid between a home console and a handheld device, ValueWalk has learned.

One patent application from Nintendo itself showed a machine that would be a "supplemental computing device" but no console has been mentioned. The patent showed that the processing power from other devices could help another console to better render the graphics and such.

On its own, the Nintendo NX could sport a modified version of the Polaris GPU from AMD. There are also reports that an NVIDIA Tegra NX could be possible.

Nintendo is expected to announce the console at the E3 2016 conference, Mobipicker reported. The hybrid console could also be present at the Tokyo Game Show 2016.

The Nintendo NX would be up against Sony's rumored PlayStation NEO 4K or PlayStation 4.5 which is expected to be rolled out in a few months. Microsoft has been silent about their Xbox Two console but a surprise unveiling is still possible within a few weeks.

NVIDIA could also announce their Tegra take on the console. AMD has also recently revealed that they have a new business line which could prove the Polaris GPU theories.

Nintendo NX will allow users to use it as both a home and a handheld console which essentially makes it a hybrid device. Fans will have to wait for its unveiling along with the Xbox Two and the PlayStation NEO 4K.
