'The Elder Scrolls' is a series of action role-playing open world fantasy video games primarily developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks.

"The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" was among the most popular games in Xbox 360's library. This fifth installment in Bethesda's flagship RPG franchised enabled the developer company to break into the mainstream, and it remains one of the best-received games in the library. However, it is surprising the company is yet to make a move towards making "Skyrim's" backwards compatible on Xbox One.

Conventionally, Bethesda has been a big support of Microsoft's backwards compatibility initiative, with "Fallout 3" being one of the first games announced to support the service, according to Gamingbolt. A central concern is why the game developer has not made any efforts to have the renowned "Skyrim" available on Xbox One.

Although Bethesda has nothing to gain from such a move in terms of sales, it will keep the game alive and at the forefront of gamers' minds, as the company focuses on the next installment in the franchise - "The Elder Scrolls 6." Furthermore, the move will make the wait for the sixth installment easier for gamers, at least on the Xbox One.

Given that Bethesda and Microsoft share a close, formidable working relationship, fans expect to see something done. There are hopes that this will among the big announcements that the game developer will make during the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016, which is scheduled for June 14-16.

Although avid fans of "The Elder Scrolls" franchise have been clamoring for the release of the sixth installment, they might have to wait until 2019, which is when the hiatus will end. Much to the disappointment of many fans and gamers of the franchise, Bethesda Studios is currently focused on the creation of "Fallout 4."

The delay of the next game in "The Elder Scrolls" series has resulted into much anxiety for gamers. "The Elder Scrolls 6" features a great plot and enticing gaming experience, but the delay might influence the general trend of the game.

Bethesda is yet to unveil the name for the upcoming game. However, rumors have it that the sixth installment might retain the "Skyrim" brand; with "The Elder Scrolls 6" being referred to as "Skyrim 2," according to Neurogadget. Fans should remain patient to see what the game developer presents during the upcoming E3 2016.

Here is a sneak peek for more information on "The Elder Scrolls 6."
