What happens when Sam and Dean battle Men of Letters and reunite with their mother in ‘Supernatural’ Season 12 episode 1?

It was 2 months ago when the CW confirmed that it will renew "Supernatural" for another season. With the season's renewal comes the report that the change behind the scene regarding the departure of the series' showrunner, Jeremy Carver, may alter the storylines of "Supernatural" Season 12.

It was just recently announced that the executive producer will not be back to fill his role in "Supernatural" Season 12, as the former EP is currently pre-occupied with the new CW thriller titled "Frequency." With that said, his position is said to be replaced by a two-person team, Andrew Dabb and Robert Singer, TVLine reported.

According to the same publication, Dabb started working since "Supernatural" Season 4, and was tasked to be a writer or story editor, while Singer was one of the showrunners of the series since the first season. He also directs and writes for the series.

With the change in the executive producer seat, many are speculating that this would affect the upcoming "Supernatural" Season 12. Fans are even saying that storylines may be affected, knowing that Carver will no longer run the show. In contrary, some fans took it positively and says that the change may yield positive results for the series, and that they are just so thankful their paranormal themed series was renewed to its 12th season.

On the other hand, there are rumors today that a spinoff of the series is in the works, which will be titled "Supernatural: Bloodlines." However, it is said that The CW network may not give a green light to the "Bloodlines," but rather make a new spinoff that will inject interest to viewers, Screenrant cited.

Meanwhile, according to Den of Geek, the current president of The CW Mark Pedowitz said that as long as the two lead stars of the series, Jared Padalecki (Sam Winchester) and Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester) are still able to carry the series, there is no need to stop "Supernatural" as it'll always be renewed.

"Supernatural" Season 11 finale episode titled "Alpha and Omega" is scheduled to air on May 25, while "Supernatural" Season 12 pilot episode has no release date yet.
