In early May, South Korean budget carrier Jeju Air teased fans of “Descendants of the Sun” actor Song Joong-ki by announcing he is the new commercial endorser of the airline.

On Wednesday, Jeju Air released the TV video commercial of the 30-year-old actor. It was posted both on YouTube and a Facebook Song Joong Ki fan page where it has almost 45,000 views in one day.

The 1-minute, 11-second video showed Song Joong-ki sporting a Jeju Air pilot’s uniform and how his image was placed on the plane’s body. His half-body image is seen not just once but five times on the aircraft’s body from the wings up to the back. The jet sports Jeju Air’s corporate colors of white and orange.

Also on the same day, Jeju Air released a print ad of the actor for its Color Run campaign. Based on the images on the print ad and the website, Color Run charity is a unique paint race that celebrates healthiness, happiness and individuality. The company has been sponsoring over 225 paint race events in more than 35 countries since 2015.

The low-cost airline is based on Jeju City, Jeju-do, South Korea, offering scheduled domestic flights between the South Korean mainland and Jeju, a tourist destination, out of Jeju International Airport or Gimpo International Airport.

Jeju Air owns 24 Boeing 737-800 jets, and the fast-growing air carrier plans to add five or six more aircraft per year until its fleet grows to 40 737-800s.

Song Joong-ki’s endorsement of Jeju Air is a testament to his popularity as an actor in both South Korea and China.
