It has been a decade and a half since the first installment of the "Fast & Furious" franchise was released. Universal officially announced that on its 15th anniversary of the first film which is on June 22, they will be re-releasing the movie in big screens for one day. Movie producer, Neal Moritz recalled how they started the successful film series.
In an interview from Entertainment Weekly, Moritz shared his incredible experience in producing the first "Fast & Furious" film. It was not easy for him to come up with a title. He said in the interview that he had to make a title that was done in the past by American International Pictures, the company where his family was involved in so many years.
When they started talking about the AIP movie titled "The Fast and The Furious" written by Roger Corman in 1955, Moritz had an idea to use that title. He informed Universal about his proposed title the next morning but he thought that the production company might not like it. He received a called the next day and the proposed title was a go.
Moritz admitted that it was just a low-profile production and he said, "We were the little movie nobody really cared about, to be honest." The whole team was surprised when it became a summer movie that many people were interested to watch.
One value that was never taken out on all the "Fast & Furious" movies is about the importance of family according to Moritz. It has always been part of the movie even off the set. He shared that he is still keeping in touch with the casts even if they are not anymore included in the most recent installment. Now that the first "Fast & Furious" movie is set to hit the big screen once again, Moritz is planning to have a movie trip along with the "Fast 8" casts since they are shooting in Atlanta.
In other related news, Fast & Furious official Twitter page recently posted a photo of Charlize Theron naming her as Cipher. It has been reportedly said that she will be some sort of a villain who is a weapon expert. "Fast 8" will be released on April 14, 2017.
