"Jane the Virgin" season 3 will somewhat veer away from its focus on Jane Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez) becoming a mom as a virgin woman.

According to TV Line, the hit The CW series is expected to tackle the controversial topic of abortion in its upcoming episodes.

In the finale episode, it was revealed that Xiomara (Andrea Navedo) is expecting a child and it's possible that it's with Esteban (Keller Wortham).

According to Bustle, it's also possible that Rogelio (Jaime Camil) is the father of the child.

While speaking with the publication, Camil said that he's not betting on the assumption that his character or Esteban is the father of Xo's baby.

"I wouldn't bet my money on that assumption, if Esteban is the father, or if I'm the father - I don't know, truly," he said.

Meanwhile, Camil hinted on the possibility of Xo's getting an abortion especially since she already said before that she no longer wants to have a child.

"That storyline can develop in so many different ways. If Xo is even gonna consider having the kid because she has said so many times that she doesn't want kids - there's so many ramifications to this story," he explained.

When asked if Rogelio will stand by Xo's decision no matter what it turns out to be, Camil said, "I think their love story is so strong. Rogelio and Xiomara love each other dearly. They co-created a child, for the love of God, so I think that storyline will never go away, and I think the love won't either, because Rogelio has established in every single episode that the love of his life is Xiomara."

In other news, entertainment writer Michael Ausiello told TV Line that Xiomara's decision would impact her daughter Jane and mom Alba (Ivonne Coll) greatly.

The latter is known for being very religious and as a catholic, abortion is not allowed by the church.

Executive producer Jennie Urman said that she's positive "Jane the Virgin" season 3 will be able to discuss the controversial storyline in a candid and honest manner.

"We obviously have somebody in our family, Alba, who would not be in favor of it, and Jane and Xo would feel differently. So we'll have to see who wins out," she said.

"Jane the Virgin" season 3 will premiere on The CW sometime this year.
