"Quantico's" first season run saw promising ratings and propelled actress Priyanka Chopra into superstardom. If that's not enough indicators for a Season 2 order, then there's no telling what is. But the crime-thriller series is on the safe side of the television score card, and "Quantico" creator Joshua Safran has details on what's to come in "Quantico" Season 2.
In the finale episode of "Quantico" Season 1, Alex Parrish Jake McLaughlin's character, Ryan Booth, discovered that the mole in the Academy is Liam. Both eventually take out Liam. With the terrorist plot thwarted, Alex made her exit from the FBI; however, she is given a chance to continue serving the country under the CIA.
First and foremost, Safran's goal for "Quantico" Season 2 will be "keying even more" into Chopra and McLaughlin's chemistry by "sort of taking on a little bit more of a 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith' vibe."
But overall, the relationship that viewers saw in Season 1 will unfold a bit slower in "Quantico" Season 2.
In an interview with TV Line, Safran said that "Quantico" Season 2 is "structure a little bit slower," and that the nature of the season will be "slower and unfolding as opposed to explosive."
Safran also revealed that "even though there will be darkness," "Quantico" Season 2 will "feel a little lighter."
"We want to spend time with these people as adults in the real world as the most ridiculously hot adults you've ever seen in the real world," Safran told Complex,. "They are not on a college campus anymore sitting in classrooms. They are actually out doing their jobs and all that entails when you are an adult in the real world."
The flashbacks will also remain a huge part of the storytelling in "Quantico" Season 2, but "it will be less confusing."
There's also a possibility that Senator Claire Haas, played by Marcia Cross, will play an integral role in "Quantico" Season 2. There still an unresolved conflict regarding her arc, and now her son, Caleb, Alex and every else knows about her secret now. Although nothing could be done about it because there's no proof to her ill deeds, it is likely that she will still end up paying the price.
