X-Men: Apocalypse VIP Screening - Arrivals

"X-men: Apocalypse" star Michael Fassbender talks about his role as Magneto and teases interest in being a next James Bond movie.

On an interview with the The Young Folks, many surprising things bubbled up to the surface when Michael Fassbender talked about playing the helmet-wearing, caped Marvel villain. First of all, he revealed that there was Magneto storyline that revolved around his hatred for the human race that the actor followed closely in the comic books.

But even with that, in mind, as the key component of Magneto's character, the 39-year-old actor reveals how he and screenwriter Simon Kinberg came up with the idea of a totally different side of Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto.

"Simon [Kinberg] and I were talking on a plane heading to Russia for Days of Future Past, said Fassbender. He continued, "and we started spit balling that idea seeing him in a different environment in the beginning as a regular guy really living a family life, no longer partaking in world domination, until that incident of course which changes everything."

Moving on, the "X-Men" star then revealed what he felt about the new cast of mutants for the film. While acknowledging their professional and sweet natures, he added that making them feel welcomed was always in mind. Later on, he admitted that if given the right opportunity, he is totally up for solo Magneto movie. As a bonus trivia, he said he played onset pranks with fellow "X-men "cast and if given the opportunity to have a mutant trait, he'd be content with just a tail for primary physical balance.

When the topic came down to the subject on playing James Bond, he said, "To be honest with you, I think they should reboot the James Bond series and go back to his origins as a soldier. I've got a great idea for it actually, so Barbara Broccoli (007 producer), talk to me."

A year ago, Michael Fassbender told MTV that though he could not tell what the future holds for Magneto after "X-Men: Apocalypse" he was clearly interested in "moving forward. There have been talks that he this third "X-Men" installment might be his last time to wear Magneto's helmet. To date, it does not look like the actor already has the answer to those talks.

To sum it up, fans need not worry that "X-men: Apocalypse" is Michael Fassbender's last time in the Marvel franchise because he is now expected to say "yes" given the offer to appear in a James Bond or a solo Magneto movie.
