"The Vampire Diares" season 8 is confirmed to feature returning cast member Nina Dobrev, but there are new rumors that the actress will not only be part of the series during its season finale.
A few months ago, executive producer Julie Plec told TV Line that she wants Dobrev to return to "The Vampire Diaries" because there is still a lot of information about her character Elena Gilbert that needs to be told.
Plec added that seeing Dobrev during the final episode of "The Vampire Diaries" would be more than enough her. But the exec also mentioned that whatever Dobrev is willing to give back to the show will be highly appreciated.
This statement suggests that if Dobrev is open to the idea of returning to more than one episode of "TVD" for season 8, Plec would be open to the idea of writing Elena's storyline into the script as well.
Unfortunately until today, it is still unclear where Dobrev's head is at and what exactly is she will giving to give for the success of "The Vampire Diaries."
Meanwhile, the finale episode for season 7 already featured a cameo of Dobrev during one of its most emotional scenes.
At that time, Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) heard Elena's voice and followed her sound into the Armory vault. When he and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) got inside, they realized that Elena wasn't there.
Damon and Enzo ended up killing so many vampires, risking their lives and destroying their reputation once again.
In other news, the aftermath of Damon and Enzo's evil deeds left an impact on Stefan (Paul Wesley), Caroline (Candice Accola-King), Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Alaric (Matt Davis).
When the series returns to The CW next season, Damon and Enzo's friends will try their best to help them get rid of their dark side. Whether or not they will be successful at doing so will be revealed in the upcoming episodes of the show.
"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 is rumored to be the last for the hit The CW series.
The show is expected to premiere sometime this year.
