"Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" may have seen its possible demise over an ominous response from gamers and fans over their latest trailer released the first week of May this year. Though there is no assurance of success, given the reaction of the majority audiences worldwide, game developers are still banking on the unique storyline and presentation of the game.
Infinite Warfare may not be the first game to explore the idea of futuristic warfare that went beyond the horizon of our solar system, but as what the game developer would suggest, it could be the most realistic game ever to capture and create realistic characters treading in a futuristic sci-fi setting. Thus, making this installment different from previous game series, containing relatively unique game features, according to The Verge.
"We are telling the most realistic, plausible near-future story of war," Infinity Ward narrative director Taylor Kurosaki said in an interview with Forbes. "Space is the next frontier and its militarization is inevitable."
With the market's current demand for a more realistic and relatable video games, game developer Infinit Ward and game publisher Activision is set to prove the value of their game. They are hoping to connect with audiences and their call for realism. Perhaps a testament to their goal of a more realistic video game is the removal of "Exo Suits" from the game.
It can be remembered that Exo Suits or Exoskeleton was first introduced in "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare", which later on spotted in "Call of Duty: Black Ops III". With the existence of this game feature, players are given increased physical capabilities such as increased strength and speed. As a result of this game addition, some gamers were complaining for Exo Suit creates a drastic change in the gameplay.
With the announcement of the removal of Exo Suit on Call of Duty official Twitter account, players of "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" are set to be guaranteed of an equal general physical freedom, removing the superiority of other players in the game. Thus, re-echoing one of the goals of this particular COD installment, creating a natural, relatable characters through an unparalleled storytelling according to the games official Twitter page.
But despite the push for a more realistic approach and characterization, it cannot be helped to ask how would a sci-fi game be realistic as it is? Perhaps we would just have to wait and see for the game arrival and check the developer and publisher's claim of their game. And for those who haven't seen the trailer, below is a video presentation:
