Rumors are out that Sweden national team skipper Zlatan Ibrahimović is still unsure of joining English Premier League powerhouse Manchester United this summer despite reports that Jose Mourinho is already prepared to receive him at the Old Trafford.
Moreover, the 34-year-old striker is speculated of a return stint to Allsvenskan club Malmö FF, his hometown team, where Ibrahimović's senior career started way back in 1999.
The Daily Mirror reported that the 6-foot-5 Paris Saint-Germain forward "hinted his move to Manchester United could be off after telling Malmö fans that he would be back at his boyhood club" even as Mourinho had already expressed his interest in having him at his side next season.
In a recent interview at his birthplace while training with the national team for the upcoming Euro 2016 competitions, Ibrahimović admitted that he received an offer from United but did not disclose whether he intends to accept the deal or not.
He then addressed the fans by saying that "I love Malmö and I wish I could play today. I apologize for that, but I will, I will. Just wait for me."
His remarks certainly stirred a lot of speculations regarding the Swede's future, as Manchester fans are said to be anticipating to have him at the Old Trafford by now.
Meanwhile, Ibrahimović's manager, Mino Raiola, dismissed the rumors that his client is sure to be on his way to United at the moment, according to The Guardian. Raiola claimed that no deal with the Red Devils "is anywhere close to being done" as the Swede is looking for one last huge contract that will make him one of "the highest paid players in football".
"We have not decided anything yet," the agent said. "I think it will be a surprise in the end. Everyone is harping on about only United, United, United. There are some clubs in England, a few clubs in Europe, clubs outside Europe, but everyone assumes that he must go to Manchester United, but it is not true."
Ibrahimović just finished his four-year contract with Les Parisiens this season. His four seasons with the club all resulted in Ligue 1 trophies and double digit scoring for him as well. He saved his best during his final year, scoring 50 goals in 51 games in all competitions for PSG.
