Last Tuesday, the 53-year-old Michael Jace was convicted of second-degree murder for the death of his wife April Jace, according to E! News. He is now scheduled to appear for sentencing on June 10 in state prison, where he will be locked up behind bars.

The entertainment news site has learned that the actor admitted to shooting his wife in 2014, but his intention was only to hurt her. The evidence indicates that Jace shot his wife three times in front of their two young sons. Earlier that day now deceased Ms. Jace was asking for a divorce.

The transcript that was released last Thursday presented that Jace reportedly told investigators, "I was just angry. All I intended to do was shoot her in the leg. And then I shot her in the leg and that was it."

Two years ago, the actor was arrested after the police responded to a 911 emergency call pointing to the couple's Hyde Park home in Los Angeles. Although he pleaded not guilty, a judge ordered him to stay at least 100 yards away from his two children.

Meanwhile, Defense Attorney Jamon Hicks reportedly pleaded for conviction of voluntary manslaughter on the grounds that there was no evidence to prove that the murder was premeditated, according to Variety. On the other hand, the prosecutors argued that the "Shield" actor intended to shoot his Mrs. Jace because he was angry at her because she wanted a divorce.
