The next generation of Samsung Galaxy Note is expected to be dubbed as the Galaxy Note 6. But several rumors already hinted that the upcoming Note will not follow the numbering scheme this time. Instead it will be labelled as Galaxy Note 7 to match the recently released S7.
Now, that several devices from different manufacturers already featured dual-lens camera in their flagship phones, it may be time for Samsung to present it as a trademark feature of the next iteration of Galaxy Note.
Several specifications of the upcoming Note have already been laid in the past months. Since most of these are just speculations, there has not been any official confirmation from Samsung. Despite this, another recent development surfaced lately pointing out that Samsung's new flagship may be following the industry's trend of phones which are installed with a dual-lens camera, SamMobile reported.
With Huawei having recently launched their P9, LG their G5, and with Apple also being rumored to incorporate the dual-lens camera in the upcoming iPhone 7, Samsung probably does not want to be behind the trail.
Part of the rumor mill states the Note 7 will be sporting specifications such as a 5.8-inch and 5.9-inch variant, a powerful 6GB RAM, a 4,000 mAh battery, a microSD card slot, a QHD resolution, a Snapdragon 820 processor, a 12-megapixel rear camera and an IP68 waterproof rating, Slash Gear reported.
The same report noted that the past Galaxy Notes had diminishing returns, and Samsung is making a way to re-instate the series through the upcoming Note 7. It also noted that in order for the Note 7 to cope with Samsung's sales, an evident upgrade is necessary.
Although the report emphasized that technical specifications are not entirely the basis for massive sales, and are rather a balance of specifications and price. It is still crucial for the new model to surpass the limitations of its predecessor in order to breakthrough a significant amount of sales.
