Blossom Entertainment Postpones Soong Joong-ki Shanghai Fan Meet

Song Joong-ki got the Most Popular Male in TV and IQIYI Star awards and Song Hye Kyo got the Most Popular Female in TV and IQIYI Star awards at the 52nd Baeksang Art Awards.

What would happen to Song Joong-ki’s remaining fan meets in China as part of his 2016 Asian tour? Fans of the “Descendants of the Sun” actor are likely in a confused state following the sudden cancellation of his fan meet in Shanghai originally scheduled on June 5, Sunday.

The confusion would likely stem from an announcement on Friday by Blossom Entertainment, the 30-year-old Hallyu star’s talent management, that the Shanghai fan meet is postponed, reported Soompi. What is puzzling is that the statement issued by Blossom Entertainment, which reads: “We ask that caution be taken so as not to swindle fans since ticket sales have not begun yet. We apologize for the inconvenience,” did not explain why the fan meet was postponed.

“Song Joong Ki fans are curious why it was called off only 2 days beforehand,” wrote AllKpop.

To add mystery to the fate of the fan meet, Blossom Entertainment did not issue rescheduled date for the Shanghai fan meet. Also postponed is BIGBANG’s concert in Shenyang, likewise with no explanation.

However, Soompi noted that the other schedules in China are slated to resume as planned. That means the fan meet in Hong Kong will go on June 11, in Chengdu on June 17 and Taipei on June 25.

The postponement came on the day that “Descendants of the Sun,” Song Joong-Ki and Song Hye Kyo got awards in the 52nd Baeksang Art Awards. The 16-episode blockbuster got the Grand Prize in TV award, while the lead actor got the Most Popular Male in TV and IQIYI Star awards and Song Hye Kyo got the Most Popular Female in TV and IQIYI Star awards. Perhaps the show, cast and staff are celebrating their victory?
