After some recent announcements of their latest gadgets, Samsung is now again rumored to release something new in their line of smartphones. Samsung plans to release mobile smartphones with bendable screens and one smartphone model is said to have a screen that totally folds like a cosmetic product.
According to Bloomberg, this project called "Project Valley" will have future devices that will use the organic light-emitting diodes or OLEDs that will be introduced to the public in the early months of next year. It has been reportedly said that Apple might unveil this kind of technology first. The source of this rumor who declined to be recognized said that Samsung is going to release a 5-inch display smartphone with a screen that can unfurl up to 8 inches.
Basing on their recently released devices, Samsung has already shown their capability of innovating bendable displays that pioneered on some Samsung Galaxy edge models. Samsung is not the only company who has this plans of advancements though. According to The Verge, LG, Sharp and Sony also has their own bendable screen innovations on their TVs and mobile devices but Samsung is aiming to gain more customers with this futuristic advancements on their new smartphones.
An analyst from IBK Securities Co., Lee Seung Woo said, "This product could be a game-changer if Samsung successfully comes up with a user interface suitable for bendable screens," he added, "Next year is a probable scenario. Their biggest obstacle was related to making transparent plastics and making them durable, which seems resolved by now."
Samsung might also skipped a version of its Galaxy Note going directly to "Note 7" because they want to release it in line with the Samsung smartphones with bendable screens. This upcoming devices will not be introduced under the Galaxy S series so it will be a new line of Galaxy smartphone model.
As of now, there are no other details like the internal and external specs of these future Samsung smartphones rumored other than its bendable display and screen size. Samsung will highly likely release the bendable-screen smartphones on February next year in the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
