As the draft inches closer, some teams are said to be determined to move up and the Chicago Bulls could start their rebuilding.
The latest intel has the Chicago Bulls considering deals that could move them up in the draft. The team is not shooting for the top 2 picks of the Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers because the price is too steep. But they would be willing to trade either Rose or Butler according to Chad Ford.
There are numerous guard prospects on the board from no.3 onwards and apparently, the Bulls see Kris Dunn as a good fit for Hoiball and there is a big possibility that they would move up in the draft to pick him, according to KC Johnson of the Chicago Tribune.
"This year's draft isn't as deep at point guard. If the Bulls don't trade up, one player sources say intrigues them - Providence combo guard Kris Dunn - certainly would be gone at No. 14," Johnson said.
He also noted that despite the Bulls reputation as weak traders, they can pull off a transaction if they want to.
"The Bulls historically have been aggressive with trades to move up in the draft, doing so to acquire Luol Deng in 2004 and Doug McDermott in 2014," Johnson concluded.
Dunn is rising up the big boards and he has gained an attractive player comparison in John Wall, who is a first overall pick. The Providence standout reportedly prefers the Minnesota Timberwolves as a landing spot with former Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau.
Thus, if the Bulls also want Dunn, they must try to trade for a pick before the no.5 Timberwolves and they may have to involve Jimmy Butler, as in this proposal from Blog A Bull.
The Bulls could send Jimmy Butler in exchange for Avery Bradley, Jae Crowder and the no.3 pick. Butler is a star in the league and one of the best two-way players. The Bulls would be taking a step back but Butler alone would not suffice to drag the team into the offseason. Bradley and Crowder are capable defensive players who can be building blocks for their future.
However, the Celtics view Crowder as an integral piece for them, even untouchable. This could be the negotiating point for both teams.
Is Bradley, Crowder and the no.3 pick fair value for Jimmy Butler? Are the Bulls asking too much?
